Diagnostic Mammography

Diagnostic mammograms are performed with the breast radiologist present for the exam to evaluate any area of concern.  At the recommendation of the radiologist or your referring physician, the diagnostic mammogram may then be followed by an ultrasound or a biopsy.

On the day of your mammogram, remember:

  • Bring all outside film/ultrasounds with you
  • Wear a two-piece outfit
  • Arrive 20 minutes prior to your appointment to complete the registration process
  • Bring all previous mammogram films if not performed at Baptist Health Lexington
  • Bring your insurance card
  • Do not apply lotion, powder or deodorant to your upper body
  • Bring another adult to provide supervision of any young children that accompany you
  • Bring a written order from your physician for any diagnostic exams
