Palliative Care Class: A Comprehensive Overview

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this class, the participant should be able to:

  • describe the philosophy, mission, and values of palliative care.
  • describe ethical and legal issues related to palliative care.
  • discuss communication, patient centered decision making, and use of family conferences in palliative care.
  • discuss end of life spiritual care, grief, and bereavement.
  • discuss comprehensive assessment of palliative care patients.
  • identify complimentary therapies that may be useful in palliative care.
  • verbalize best practice interventions for pain management and symptom management for the palliative population.

Target Audience: Baptist Health Lexington healthcare providers.

Prerequisites: Pre-registration is required.
