Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation

Summary of class: 

This program is designed to prepare the participant in developing skill in interpretation of basic dysrhythmias. This will also include a brief discussion of appropriate emergency interventions for specific dysrhythmias.

After this course the participant can expect to be able to:

  • briefly discuss the anatomy and physiology of the heart.
  • briefly discuss principles of electrophysiology and conduction of electrical impulses through the cardiac conduction system and relate them to the monitored waveform.
  • discuss monitoring procedure and lead placement.
  • interpret basic dysrhythmias and describe their physiologic effects.
  • identify standard of care for emergency treatment of cardiac dysrhythmias.

Location of Class: Education Center

Target Audience: 

Healthcare providers at Baptist Health Lexington with responsibility for cardiac monitoring and have a basic knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Limited seating availability.

Prerequisites (for everyone): 

Pre-registration (see below) is required to secure a place in this class.
This class is a prerequisite for ACLS class.

BHL Employees: $50.00 will only be deducted utilizing your Class Enrollment Form (E-Voucher) IF:

  • cancellation is less than 48 hours in advance;
  • do not attend Day 1;
  • do not attend Day 2;
  • do not attend Day 3 (exam);
  • no call/no show.

Non BHLexington employees: $75.00 per person (manual not included - these may be ordered by your institution). Checks will be returned after completion of the registered dates and the manual (if applicable) is returned.
