Visitation Guidelines

Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome throughout the day, and one support person is welcome to stay overnight. To protect the newborn from colds and infectious diseases, we recommend that children other than siblings do not visit and that you limit visitors. Children need to be accompanied by an adult other than the patient at all times. Visitors should not handle the baby if they have any of the following: fever, cold, diarrhea, an open sore, chicken pox, measles or any contagious disease. Everyone should wash his/her hands with soap and water before handling the baby.

Waiting Room Rules

• Lights must remain on at all times.
• Visitors are not to bring lounge chairs, cots, mattresses or appliances into the hospital. (If there is a special need, you may speak with the unit director or clinical house supervisor.)
• In the event the waiting area is overcrowded with a large family, several members may be asked to wait in the hospital lobby.
• Please do not wait in the hallways. This interferes with the privacy of our patients and safety for everyone.
• Please do not use cellular phones in any patient care area. This may interfere with the patient monitoring equipment.
• For the courtesy and comfort of other families in the waiting area, please keep the noise level to a minimum.

Photos and Videotape

The birth of a child provides many moments for the family scrapbook - photos or videos that will be cherished for many years. Both cameras and hand-held video cameras are permitted during labor and immediately following delivery. However, because the safety of both mother and child is of utmost importance, tripods are not allowed. Delivery procedure requires the use of medical equipment and a number of hospital personnel working quickly and efficiently. Therefore, photography or videotaping should not be done at the time of delivery. For similar reasons, no photographic equipment may be used during anesthetic procedures.

Support Person

Central Baptist allows two support people in a mother's room for a vaginal delivery, and one support person for a c-section.

Cell Phones

Because of the possibility of interference with medical equipment, cell phone use is prohibited inside the hospital except in the lobbies of Buildings D and E.

Smoking

The hospital maintains a smoke-free environment. Healthcare personnel, patients, and visitors anywhere in the building and near the outside entrances and exits to the buildings prohibit smoking. Smoking is permitted in the designated smoking shelters, which are located outside of the emergency room and in front of Building D. Outside smoking is permitted as long as you are not near an entrance or exit to the hospital buildings.
