Palliative Care Center Receives Grant
The Palliative Care Center of the Bluegrass, a subsidiary of Hospice of the Bluegrass, has been awarded a $750,000 grant to increase the availability of palliative care in hospitals, benefiting those who suffer from a life-threatening illness.
CBH’s palliative care program is affiliated with the Palliative Care Center of the Bluegrass. Kay Ross, vice president of oncology/clinical support at Central Baptist Hospital, was instrumental in the grant process and participates as faculty in the Palliative Care Leadership Center.
The award came from the Center to Advance Palliative Care, a national program of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The Palliative Care Center of the Bluegrass was selected, along with five other institutions in the nation with exemplary palliative care programs, to be Palliative Care Leadership Centers (PCLCs) over a three-year period. Each PCLC will provide a site-visitor program for professionals from other healthcare institutions intending to start palliative care programs. | |
