Diagnostic Center Opens at Hamburg

The center has leading-edge technology equipment that is not only new to the hospital, but also to Lexington and the state of Kentucky.

“We are the first in the area to have an Espree Open Bore MRI,” said Bill Broaddus, Director of Radiology. “This equipment will allow people who are claustrophobic to feel more at ease because of its wider opening and shorter length.” The shorter length allows over 60 percent of exams to be completed with the patient’s head outside of the bore.

The new Espree Open Bore MRI, a product of Siemens, also has a higher field of strength than other "open" type MRI's, which means shorter scan times and more enhanced digital quality images. This leading-edge technology also provides up to four times more signal-to-noise ratio over traditional open MRI’s allowing any size patient to receive the same quality medical care.

The Diagnostic Center has such technology as the FX Digital Radiolography Ultrasound, Sensation 16-slice CT scanner, Espree Open Bore MRI, and the Novation Digital Mammography machine, all featuring film-less technology. Film-less technology allows physicians to read their patients images almost instantaneously. The Central Baptist Hospital Mammography Department is also be equipped with the Novation digital mammography technology.

The Central Baptist Outpatient Center at Hamburg includes the Diagnostic Center, Central Baptist Outpatient Therapy Services, BaptistWorx, and the Central Baptist Outpatient Mammography Center.
