Central Baptist's pediatric services focus on family-centered care with an emphasis on children's growth and developmental needs.
Pediatric Services
Our pediatric services include:
- A 16-bed pediatric unit that provides care to children up to 18 years of age;
- Rehabilitation services, including physical and occupational therapy for children with developmental delays or those recovering from an illness or injury; and
- Speech-language pathology for children who stutter, have voice disorders or other problems with communicating.
Educational Programs for Children
At Central Baptist Hospital, we put as much emphasis on healthy lifestyles and prevention as we do on medical technology. We also try to make our youngest patients feel comfortable. That's why we offer so many educational programs for children, including:
- Education in a Box, a series of free educational modules designed to teach health-related topics to school-aged children pre-K through sixth grade.
- New Brother/New Sister Class, created to help your child feel "special" and an important part of the childbirth event.
- Safe Sitter, a medically accurate program to prepare children ages 11 to 13 for babysitting.
Educational Services for Parents
Parenting takes no special training, particular level of education, or official certification to get into the "field." However, it does require patience, persistence and prayer on the part of both the persons being parented and those doing the parenting. Central Baptist Hospital offers many resources for parents, including:
- Our Health Information Library that allows you to quickly and easily access information on hundreds of health topics through a touch-tone phone by calling 223-1726;
- Our Pediatric CPR Class for parents, baby-sitters, childcare workers and others who want to learn CPR techniques for children ages newborn to 8.
