Central Baptist's oncology social worker is available to help meet the emotional and informational needs of cancer patients and their support networks.
When facing a diagnosis of cancer, everyone has their own strengths, values, knowledge and problem-solving style. The oncology social worker makes sure each patient receives services and support in areas such as:
- Eligibility for disability and financial assistance
- Bill-paying services
- Interpreting insurance reimbursement
- Advance directives (such as living wills, durable powers of attorney and healthcare surrogates)
- Questions of competency or informed consent
- Caregiver and family stress
- Alternative living arrangements
