Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. and Central Baptist Hospital are pleased to announce the establishment of Lexington Cardiac Research Foundation, Inc. (“LCRF”), a research foundation devoted specifically to cardiac, electrophysiology and vascular clinical research.  LCRF is a corporate subsidiary of Baptist Healthcare System, Inc., and will serve as an instrument to assist, advance and strengthen Central Baptist Hospital in its mission and ministry of healing, including performing and fostering medical research, training and teaching, and clinical trails for its patients.  LCRF will allow Central Baptist Hospital physicians to conduct research studies and improve the treatment methodologies for cardiovascular disease. 

Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. has appointed the following individuals to the LCRF Board of Directors:

     Todd Jones, VP Cardiovascular/Surgical Services, Central Baptist Hospital
     Kay Ross, VP Oncology/Clinical Support Services, Central Baptist Hospital
     Gery F. Tomassoni, MD, FACC, Lexington Cardiology Consultants
     Bobbie Prather, CFO, Central Baptist Hospital
     Rusty Purdy, Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. Board Member

(Directors shall serve a 3-year term until the Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. Annual Meeting in December 2008).

LCRF Officers and Chair:

             Gary Barnes, MBA – Treasurer

(Officers and Chair shall serve a one-year term until the next Annual Meeting).

A Medical Research Committee, all of whom are physicians, will be responsible for reviewing and recommending to the LCRF Board the acceptance of grants, gifts and requests for medical research, training, teaching, clinical trials, and for other purposes and activities consistent with LCRF’s charitable purposes.
