Central Baptist Hospital offers a noninvasive BioZ Impedance Cardiography (ICG) test to help assess, diagnose and treat patients with medical conditions such as heart failure, high blood pressure and pulmonary disease.

What is the BioZ test?

The BioZ test is a medical technology breakthrough that provides physicians safe, noninvasive access to information about your heart’s ability to deliver blood to your body and the amount of fluid in your chest.

This information assists physicians to:

• Help identify underlying cardiovascular problems
• Customize and target treatment
• Monitor the effectiveness of prescribed medications 

Why would I need the BioZ test?

If you are being treated for heart failure, high blood pressure, lung disease, or have a pacemaker, the BioZ test will provide helpful information for your physician to make decisions about your medication therapy or pacemaker settings.

What happens during the BioZ test?

The BioZ test is completely safe and will not cause you to feel any different during the test.

Sensors are placed on each side of your neck and chest. A cable from the BioZ monitor will then be connected to the sensors. Information about your height, weight and age will be entered into the BioZ monitor. Your BioZ measurements will be taken as you lie on your back and remain still for two to five minutes.

When the test is complete, your BioZ report will be printed for your physician to review, and the cable and sensors will be removed.

Your physician will explain the results of the test to you and answer any questions you may have.

Will my insurance pay for the BioZ test?

The BioZ test is Medicare-approved and covered by many private insurance carriers.
