Central Baptist Hospital's post interventional unit provides care to heart patients who have had an interventional procedure in the cardiac cath lab, such as:

• balloon angioplasty;
• coronary stenting; or
• rotablation through directional atherectomy or rotational burr atherectomy.

Located on 3 Main in Building D (1740), the 22-bed unit is staffed by nurses who are experienced in observing, monitoring and treating patients after interventional procedures.

Family members may remain with the patient during recovery. All patients are monitored with telemetry units to check for potential cardiac arrhythmias after the procedure.

Patients receive printed instructions on self-care before leaving the hospital. In addition, a special telephone number is included in case the patient has questions or problems. By calling the 24-hour number, patients can speak directly with a registered nurse
