This course utilizes the content developed by the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Participants will have the opportunity to see demonstrations and have hands-on experience with protocols and equipment used in neonatal resuscitation. Participants are expected to read the self-study text in advance, practice and be prepared to test. Participants will be expected to pass a written exam and demonstrate competency to become NRP certified.

| Objectives | After this presentation the participant can expect to be able to: - identify newborns requiring clinical intervention at birth.
- demonstrate use of respiratory equipment used in the delivery room.
- demonstrate chest compressions and rescue breathing for newborns in the delivery room.
- demonstrate use of medication in a newborn resuscitation situation.
- demonstrate assisting with endotracheal intubation of an infant.
- discuss ethical concerns related to resuscitation of newborn infants in the delivery room.
- discuss resuscitation of the premature infant in the delivery room, differences and similarities to the term infant.
