Neonatal Resuscitation Program

This course utilizes the content developed by the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Participants will have the opportunity to see demonstrations and have hands-on experience with protocols and equipment used in neonatal resuscitation. Participants are expected to read the self-study text in advance, practice and be prepared to test. Participants will be expected to pass a written exam and demonstrate competency to become NRP certified.

Target Audience	CBH NICU & L&D RNs/LPNs; NNPs, and Physicians
Prerequisites	Pre-registration is required.

Objectives	After this presentation the participant can expect to be able to: identify newborns requiring clinical intervention at birth. demonstrate use of respiratory equipment used in the delivery room. demonstrate chest compressions and rescue breathing for newborns in the delivery room. demonstrate use of medication in a newborn resuscitation situation. demonstrate assisting with endotracheal intubation of an infant. discuss ethical concerns related to resuscitation of newborn infants in the delivery room. discuss resuscitation of the premature infant in the delivery room, differences and similarities to the term infant.
