Pediatric patients account for approximately one-third of emergency room visits across the nation. This 18-hour course was developed by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) to provide core-level pediatric knowledge and psychomotor skills facilitating the delivery of high quality pediatric emergency nursing care.

Central Baptist Hospital: 1740 Nicholasville Road; Education Center (Bldg E - Lower Level)
St. Joseph Hospital: Harrodsburg Road; Education Department (Bldg D - 4th Floor) - St. Joe Office Park

Registration Deadline:
Two months prior to day one

September 5 & 8, 2008 at CBH
Nov 7 & 14, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital

7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Target Audience RN, EMT-Ps (verification for RNs ONLY) employees working in the emergency department and pediatrics at CBH.

CBH Employees

CBH employees click: E-Voucher (to secure a place in this class). Confirmation Letters will be sent to your CBH e-mail address (do NOT delete). The Confirmation Letter is required to bring to day-one of class.

NOTE: If this course is not required for your area there will be a $50.00 charge to the employee utilizing your E-Voucher at completion of this class.

Manual

ER and Pediatric employees: Manual will be sent to your department 4-6 weeks prior to class by course coordinator.
Other employees: Obtain manual in CBH Library 4-6 weeks prior to class.
Non-Employees: Manual will be sent to address submitted on Registration Form 4-6 weeks prior to class by course coordinator.

Objectives After this course the participant can expect to be able to:
  1. identify anatomic and physiologic differences in children.
  2. demonstrate assessment skills and intervention strategies in pediatric emergencies.
  3. describe appropriate equipment to be utilized for pediatric emergency situations.
  4. list interventions for injury prevention and control.
