This program presents the American Heart Association's standards and guidelines for management of the patient in cardio-respiratory arrest. Lecture and skill station simulations are used to promote effective learning of essential skills. Certification is achieved by successful completion of all testing stations and written exam (with a passing grade of 84% or more).

Beginning January 1, 2008, no one will be admitted without your Confirmation Letter.

If lost or deleted, contact Educational Development Department via e-mail to mwheeler@bhsi.com to obtain another Confirmation Letter 2 days prior to class.

Target Audience	RN, LPN, & Paramedic employees working with critical care patients at CBH.

Objectives	After this presentation the participant can expect to be able to: demonstrate satisfactory one-person adult CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). demonstrate knowledge of basic and advanced airway adjuncts. demonstrate satisfactory use of conventional defibrillator/monitors. recognize the most common cardiac arrest dysrhythmias and determine appropriate treatment based on patient condition. manage the first 10 minutes of an arrest due to ventricular fibrillation.
Manual and Study Materials	Obtain manual in your department/unit or CBH library (call ext. 6297 to check availability). If manuals are not returned with 10 days of completion there will be a $30.00 charge utilizing your E-Voucher. Access study materials located on CD-ROM included in the manual.
