Nutrition Counseling

Baptist Diabetes, Health and Nutrition Services offers diet counseling and nutrition education by the Registered Dietitian (RD). An RD is an expert in nutrition who can teach you about diet and nutrition.

We believe that what you eat plays a vital role in helping you achieve and maintain good health. The goal of our program is to help you with the skills and knowledge needed to care for your health and lifestyle needs. Our program offers assistance in creating a personal plan that will fit your own food choices, lifestyle and schedule.

Nutrition services available to you through Baptist Diabetes, Health and Nutrition Services include education for conditions such as:

  • weight loss
  • diabetes
  • high cholesterol
  • food allergy/intolerance
  • digestive problems (celiac, diverticulosis, etc.)
  • high blood pressure
  • childhood eating problems
  • pregnancy and lactation (nursing mothers)
  • kidney problems
  • cancer

We offer individual appointments and group classes. Our Affordable Weight Loss and Healthy Heart classes are popular. These classes provide up-to-date and practical diet information through a friendly and fun experience with hands-on learning. The cost of the class is kept low to be affordable to those whose insurance will not cover nutritional counseling.

A physician referral is required for all nutrition services. For questions or additional information, please contact Genelle Hix, MS, RD, LD at (859) 260-6356.
