Description of the trial: This study will look at patients with colon or rectal cancer to see if the cancer is hereditary. Patients will complete a family history questionnaire and undergo three colonoscopies. Tests will be done on the cancerous tissue to look for a genetic cancer marker called microsatellite instability (MSI).

 

Population: Patients between 18 and 50 years old with stage I, II or III colorectal cancer who have had surgery but have not yet had a follow-up colonoscopy may be eligible. Patients who will undergo surgery may also be eligible for this study.

Description of the trial:  This study will test three different ways to give 5-FU and oral capcitabine in combination with irinotecan and leucovorin in patients with colorectal cancer. It will also determine if celecoxib (Celebrex) has any effect on tumor growth, side effects of chemotherapy or disease symptoms.

 

Population: Patients with advanced colorectal cancer.
