Central Baptist Hospital offers critical care services for the acute critically ill patient. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, all patients are monitored and cared for by highly trained professional nurses. Critical Care Services are offered in a variety of settings based on the care and needs of the patient.
Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (2ICU)
CTICU is a 12 bed unit that features all private rooms. Nurses utilize state-of-art equipment to monitor the post operative cardiac surgery patients as well as other critically ill patients.
4 ICU North
4 ICU North is an 8 bed unit that features all private rooms. In 4 ICU North, nursing care is provided for the critically ill patient with cardiac diagnosis and/or infectious disease.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
NICU is a 24 bassinette, state-of-the-art unit that provides comprehensive care to newborns, including the premature infant, that requires special medical and nursing monitoring. This unit is staffed by specially educated nurses averaging over ten years of neonatal intensive care experience. NICU has cared for high-risk infants throughout central, southern and eastern Kentucky since 1978.
Neurosciences Critical Care Unit (3 ICU North)
3 ICU North is a 8 bed unit, which provides care for the unstable and stable neurological, neurosurgical and peri-procedural interventional neuroradiologic patient. Children requiring critical care services are also cared for in this unit.
General Surgical (4 ICU South)
4 ICU South is an 8 bed unit primarily responsible for caring for critically ill adult, geriatric, cardiac and medical patient with diagnosis including but not limited to: MI, Hemodynamics instability, post cardiac arrest, IABP, cardiogenic shock, unstable angina, complex patients who have undergone cardiovascular procedures, arterial/venous sheath management, and continuous venous to venous hemodialysis.
Medical Surgical (3 ICU South)
3 ICU South is an 8 bed unit primarily responsible for caring for critically ill adult and geriatric cardiac patient with diagnosis including but not limited to surgical interventions, which require critical monitoring pre or post care and patients undergoing vascular surgery. Patients with hemodynamics instability, IABP, septic or cardiogenic shock, complex patients undergoing cardiovascular procedures, arterial/venous sheath management, and continuous venous to venous hemodynamics. Critically ill pregnant and postpartum patients are also cared for in this unit.
