Central Baptist Hospital Lifts Maternity, Pediatrics Visitor Restriction
Effective April 1, 2010, Central Baptist Hospital is lifting its temporary restriction on visitors younger than 18 from Maternity (Labor & Delivery, Antepartum Unit, Mother/Baby and NICU) and Pediatric areas.
Based on recommendations from its medical staff and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the hospital restricted all visitors younger than 18 in Maternity and Pediatric areas in October 2009 to help protect this high-risk population during peak influenza season. The restriction was eased in December 2009, again based on recommendations, to allow those younger than 18 in Maternity and Pediatric areas only if they were siblings, parents or spouses of a patient.
The hospital’s Pandemic Flu Response Committee has met weekly since October 2009 to monitor patient, staff and community flu incidences and make recommendations on hospital policies and procedures.
Effective April 1, the hospital returns to its regular visitation policy regarding Maternity and Pediatric areas. Visiting children need to be accompanied by an adult other than the patient at all times.
