CBH Enacts Temporary Change to Visitor Policy
Effective October 22, 2009, Central Baptist Hospital is restricting visitors younger than 18 in our Maternity (Labor & Delivery, Antepartum Unit, Mother/Baby and NICU) and Pediatrics areas due to the significant presence of influenza in our community. This temporary change will remain in effect until community flu levels have declined significantly.
The age restriction applies to all visitors younger than 18 in Maternity and Pediatric areas unless they are the parent or spouse of a patient.
We apologize that this change in policy may cause disruption in family bonding time, but we believe the best interests of our patients outweigh any inconvenience created at this time.
Infants are at high-risk for contracting both H1N1 and seasonal flu, but they cannot be immunized if they are younger than 6 months of age. Children, especially those who are school age, are also at high risk due to the increased exposure they have to other children.
We pledge to provide the best care for our patients within the safest environment possible. Even if you are older than 18, we ask that you not visit a patient if you have a fever, cough, runny nose or other flu or cold symptoms.
We appreciate your understanding and support at this time.
