CBH Breaks Ground to Expand Brannon Crossing Services

(LEXINGTON, Ky.) – In a continuing effort to bring quality and convenient medical services to residents of south Lexington and Jessamine County, Central Baptist Hospital broke ground today on its second facility in Brannon Crossing. The expansion of services will include the addition of an urgent care center, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services, expanded mammography services and more.

“In our 55th year of service, we are pleased to be able to respond to a need for more convenient and accessible locations for basic healthcare services,” said Central Baptist Hospital President & CEO William G. Sisson. “We have already served several thousands of local residents in our first Brannon Crossing facility which opened in May 2008, and we look forward to offering even more quality services that are near where people live and work.”

The new building will house Baptist Urgent Care, a convenient facility where no appointments will be required for treatment of minor illnesses and injuries. Open throughout the day, at night and on weekends, Baptist Urgent Care will be staffed by board-certified physicians and support staff of Baptist Physicians Lexington, a multi-specialty physician group affiliated with Baptist Healthcare Systems, Inc. and Central Baptist Hospital. X-ray services adjacent to Baptist Urgent Care will be provided and staffed by the hospital.

Screening mammography services now offered in the current Central Baptist Medical Plaza building will be moved to the new Building 2 and will be expanded to a full range of all-digital screening and diagnostic mammography services, including ultrasound-guided, stereotactic and MRI-guided breast biopsies along with bone densitometry, ductography/galactography and wire localization procedures.

The new building also will include multi-specialty clinic space for lease to physicians who wish to expand their practice to Jessamine County, as well as 8,500 square feet set aside for future development of permanent physician office space.

Additionally, Central Baptist is pleased to bring MRI services to Brannon Crossing, to be located in the already existing medical plaza building. MRI is one of the leading diagnostic tools utilized today to provide detailed imagery that detects disease and abnormalities throughout the body.

CT and other radiology services located in the current building will remain there, as well as Baptist Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, a Baptist Physicians Lexington practice.

Steven Albert of Albert & Burnworth of Lexington is the architect of Central Baptist Medical Plaza Building 2, and Jarboe Construction, Inc. of Lexington will serve as the contractor.
