Diabetes Prevention Program March 17

Mon, Mar 17, 2014 3:30 p.m. or 5 p.m.

Have you ever been told you need to lose weight or that your blood sugar was high? Do you have pre-diabetes or have a family history of diabetes? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, you may want to check out the Baptist Health Lexington Diabetes Prevention Program getting underway soon.

This program, based on a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention curriculum, targets those at risk of diabetes either by a risk assessment quiz or by lab work that shows elevated blood glucose. Classes are taught by registered nurses and registered dietitians who are also trained as lifestyle coaches.

Classes meet weekly for 16 weeks then monthly for the remainder of the year. Diabetes Prevention Program classes are tentatively scheduled at 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. March 17 at the Outpatient Diabetes and Nutrition Education office at Lexington Green, next to HealthwoRx. Classes are also planned in April, with daytime and evening options. Call 859-260-5122 to register or learn more information.
