Taking the Stress Out of Surgery

At Baptist Health Lexington, we know how stressful the thought of an operation can be for our patients as well as their loved ones. That's why our services are designed to ease the anxieties and concerns of patients and families and make surgery as convenient as possible.

Pre-Admission Testing
Pre-admission testing is a service provided for patients who are scheduled for any surgery or cardiac procedure at Baptist Health Lexington. Located in the hallway connecting the Building E (1720) and the Building D (1740), pre-admission testing allows the patient to be better prepared for his/her upcoming procedures.

An appointment is necessary as routine tests may be performed. Having these tests done before the day of your scheduled procedure will eliminate delays the day you arrive for your procedure.

Services provided by the pre-admission testing staff include:

  • Lab work
  • EKG
  • Medical history
  • Patient/family education
  • Review/communication of abnormal results
  • Casefinding and referrals
  • X-rays
  • Consent forms signed and other paperwork completed
  • Living wills

The patient or the patient's physician may make an appointment by calling centralized scheduling at (859) 260-6547, or toll-free (800) 280-5090. Pre-admission testing hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, by appointment only. For more information about the pre-admission testing program at Baptist Health Lexington, please call (859) 260-6499.

Family Waiting Rooms
A waiting room is available on the second floor for families of patients undergoing surgery. Pay phones and restrooms are located nearby. The hospital provides coffee and beverage vending machines. Meals and snacks can be purchased in the Fast Takes on the first floor of Building D or in the cafeteria on the second floor between Building D and Building E.

Private Conference Rooms
Patient confidentiality is a key concern at Baptist Health Lexington. We provide private conference rooms near both surgical waiting areas for families who wish to speak with the physician confidentially.

Centralized Scheduling
Scheduling procedures and surgeries is convenient for your physician because Baptist Health Lexington offers centralized scheduling. Your pre-admission testing must be completed 24 hours prior to your appointment or procedure. With one phone call, your physician can schedule appointments for pre-admission testing, procedures or surgeries.

We've made registration convenient through our innovative E-Register service. Just click here to register for your upcoming procedure or test.

Overnight Accommodations for Families
For the convenience of our out-of-town patients and visitors, we have made arrangements with nearby motels to give reduced rates. This information is located on our Visitor Information page.
