From treadmill tests and angioplasty to open heart surgery and clinical research, the Baptist Heart & Vascular Institute's team of experienced doctors and professional staff uses advance technology to heal hearts. We offer a wide array of services to diagnose and treat heart disease:

• It is extremely important to seek medical attention if you have chest pain. Our emergency department is accredited in chest pain symptoms so patients suffering can quickly be evaluated to rule out the possibility of a heart attack. Click here for symptoms of a heart attack.
• Electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, stress testing and nuclear cardiology studies are performed in our Cardiovascular labs;
• Diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease through routine studies, balloon angioplasty, rotablation and stents are performed in one of our eight digital cardiac catheterization labs (three of which are primarily used for electrophysiology);
• Electrophysiology studies to determine the causes of abnormal heart rhythms and treat arrhythmias with catheter ablation or implantable pacemakers and defibrillators;
• Open-heart surgery are performed on one of nine constructed surgery suites with 12 adjacent cardiothoracic intensive care unit (CTICU) rooms where patients recover immediately after surgery;
• Coronary artery bypass surgery is used to reduce the symptoms of coronary artery disease and to prevent future heart attacks in patients who have major blockages in their coronary arteries;
• Minimally Invasive Bypass Surgery - This surgery offers an alternative to coronary artery bypass grafts for patients who have only one or two blocked arteries;
• Heart Valve Replacement Surgery - A heart valve that is seriously deformed, degenerated or destroyed can be removed surgically and replaced with a new valve mechanism at Central Baptist Hospital.
• Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP), a noninvasive treatment that can help people who experience chronic chest pain, shortness of breath or fatigue;
• BioZ Impedance Cardiography, a medical technology breakthrough to help physicians assess, diagnose and treat patients with heart failure, high blood pressure and pulmonary disease;
• Home Health Care, offering complete in-home services for the care and management of patients with heart problems;
• A research program that supports and coordinates applied clinical studies for drugs and new devices; and
• If you're scheduled for a heart procedure, your physician may first refer you to preadmission testing.

Pre-admission Testing Department

Pre-admission testing (PAT) is a service that helps prepare patients for their procedure, expediting patients through the hospital process. Nurses provide one-on-one education regarding pre- and post-procedure care and information related specifically to the patient’s procedure, as well as answer questions and concerns. During the preadmission testing process, nurses will obtain a thorough history from the patient, including medications, past medical problems, past surgeries and allergies. Any testing necessary for your procedure, such as bloodwork or EKG, is performed at PAT, and you could be directed to the radiology department for X-rays, as ordered by your physician.
