The DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses

The DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care provided by nurses every day. Baptist Health Lexington is proud to be a DAISY Award Hospital Partner, recognizing one of our nurses with this special honor bi-monthly.
The DAISY Foundation was established in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of complications of the auto-immune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) at the age of 33. During Patrick’s hospitalization, his family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided not only him but his entire family. One of the goals of the Foundation is to recognize extraordinary nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of people.
Each DAISY Award honoree is recognized at a ceremony in her/his unit and will receive a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled “A Healer’s Touch.” Additionally, every one in the unit will celebrate with Cinnabon® cinnamon rolls, a favorite of Patrick’s.
Patients, visitors, nurses, physicians, volunteers and employees may nominate a deserving nurse for a DAISY Award. If you would like to nominate a nurse, you make pick up a nomination form at any Baptist Health Lexington entrance, nurses' stations, or click on this DAISY Award nomination form, print the form, fill it out and mail it to:
