Perinatal Bereavement Parent Support Program
Central Baptist Hospital's Perinatal Bereavement Parent Support Group is for families who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or newborn death.
The group is open to anyone who has experienced a loss regardless of how long ago the loss occurred or if the individual was a patient at Central Baptist. Parents may choose to talk or just listen. No one is asked to share if he or she does not feel comfortable doing so. A speaker is scheduled for each meeting to offer a brief presentation on a topic of interest to the parents. A perinatal bereavement support person facilitates each meeting.
The Perinatal Bereavement Parent Support Group meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at Hospice of the Bluegrass (Maurice Kaufmann Hospice Center), 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington. Meetings are held in the Bluegrass Center for Grief Education and Counseling Building, Keeneland Room (in the basement). The parking lot may be entered from Greatstone Point or Gulfstream Drive off Alexandria Drive. Enter through the doors facing the parking lot.
Each year, the group offers two memorial services that are open to the public. In October, we have a Walk to Remember and in December, a Candlelight Memorial Service.
For more information about the Perinatal Bereavement Program , please call (859) 260-6904.
Families who have lost children to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) experience unique grief. We recommend the Lexington Chapter SIDS Alliance, a group that meets monthly to discuss and share feelings and experiences. To contact the Lexington Chapter SIDS Alliance, please call (800) 928-7437.
