Laboring the Natural Way

This series of three classes is designed for those who would like to prepare for the option of an non-medicated birth. The class prepares you through the practice of relaxation, breathing techniques, position changes and partner supported comfort measures. Information on nutrition, discomforts of pregnancy, exercise, Baptist Health Lexington policies and procedures as well as information about what to expect after you deliver will also be covered. If you take this class, you do not need to attend the Comfort Measures class. 

We encourage you to take this series during your 6th or 7th month of pregnancy to allow time for practicing the techniques you learn. Active participation of your partner is strongly encouraged.

This is a free class, but registration is required.  You need only register for the first date in the series.  If you register for the Laboring the Natural Way series, you do not need to register for the Comfort Measures class.

Please bring two pillows and a blanket.  Also, be sure to wear comfortable clothes!

Classes are held in 3 different locations. Some are held at the Education Center at the hospital (Baptist Health Lexington). It is located on the lower level of Building E. Park in the East garage and take the elevator down to LL (lower level). Classes are also held at in the Recreational Outreach Center at Calvary Baptist Church located at 150 East High Street in downtown Lexington. Go past the front of the church on High Street. There will be a small drive to the left just past the church. The Recreational Outreach Center is the first building on the left. Continue up the drive for free parking in the lots. Still other classes are located at Baptist Health Lexington HealthwoRx Wellness Center located in the Mall at Lexington Green.
